/OUR STORY

There is always a unique story hidden behind a wine. Located on a historic property in the Serra de Grândola, the Pêgo da Moura brand borrowed its name from the Roman dam built there 2,000 years ago, where water still flows.

And like all stories, this one has a beginning. The Pêgo da Moura company was founded in 2010 by Manuel Ricciardi, who was later joined by the British artist Jason Martin.

United by a shared dream and combined terroirs, new wines are born. In 2020, oenologist Pedro Vasconcellos e Souza and engineer Amândio Cruz joined the team.

With the philosophy of producing unique wines aimed at a discerning audience, more vineyards were planted at Quinta da Represa de Baixo with the goal of increasing the offering and also presenting high-quality red wines.

Elegant and distinctive, Pêgo da Moura wines have a unique individuality and personality, expressing the shared soul of the brand and have already crossed borders.

Pêgo da Moura

Making wine is the ability to extract the earth’s deepest and most secret flavors. Our wines have a philosophy, character, and authenticity that stem from the terroir and the hands that craft them. Their author is Eng. Pedro Vasconcellos e Souza, a renowned oenologist, founder, and godfather of the wines from Casa de Santar and Herdade do Freixo in Alentejo, where he built one of the most distinguished wineries in Portugal. He works alongside Eng. Amândio Cruz, named the best national viticulturist in 2020, whose role is to improve the quality of the vineyards and grapes.

The new Pêgo da Moura Winery was inaugurated in 2022, where white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines will be produced.
