Quinta do Pêgo da Moura, located in the Serra de Grândola, is a historic property with records dating back to the Roman era, from the 1st to the 3rd century AD.
At around 200 meters above sea level and approximately 10 km from the Atlantic Ocean, with a unique and exceptional terroir, we seek the most vibrant expression of Portuguese grape varieties, showcasing their full potential for producing high-quality wines with great aging capacity.
SEMILLON
ARINTO
ANTÃO VAZ
The wine is a marvel of austerity, toughness, dryness, dry extract, and freshness, an old-fashioned wine that reveals a timeless profile.
Soil Geology
The grape varieties Arinto and Antão Vaz develop in very ancient, poor, and acidic schist soils, where the roots of the vines penetrate into the cooler lower layers. Their dark-colored tones absorb solar radiation, which is released as heat during the night, allowing for the production of grapes of exceptional quality.
The Semillon variety grows in the sandy Regosols of Melides, with low water retention capacity and low fertility, but whose light color allows the reflection of radiant energy and the full ripening of the grapes, which due to their proximity to the coast reveals a marked salinity.
Tasting Notes (Semillon)
Very complex aroma typical of the grape variety, white flowers, chamomile, honey/wax, dried fruits and hints of spices. In the mouth, it is refreshing with an enveloping and elegant finish.
Arinto
This wine presents a very characteristic aromatic complexity of the grape variety, with citrus and grapefruit notes. On the palate, it is fresh with elegant minerality and acidity. It has good persistence and a finish with saline notes, a result of an exceptional terroir.
Antão-Vaz
Good aromatic intensity, with notes of tropical fruit standing out. A fresh and fruity wine on the palate with good structure. Well-integrated acidity confirms the pleasant sensation of balance and leads to a persistent finish.
Year 2022
The year 2022 was characterized by a rainy spring and a relatively mild summer, which allowed for the production of very ripe and balanced grapes, with an excellent sugar/ acid ratio.
