At Pêgo da Moura, sustainability is not a marketing concept—it is a commitment that guides our decisions in the vineyard and the winery every day.
We believe that great wines begin with healthy soils, balanced ecosystems, and a deep respect for the land. That is why many of the tasks in our vineyards are carried out by hand, allowing us to work with precision while minimising unnecessary intervention. From pruning to grape selection, human attention remains an essential part of our philosophy.
In the vineyard, we seek to reduce our environmental impact by limiting the use of pesticides and applying treatments only when truly necessary. By encouraging biodiversity and maintaining the natural balance of the ecosystem, we aim to cultivate healthier vines and more resilient vineyards.
Our commitment continues in the winery. Sulphites play an important role in protecting wine, but we strive to use them responsibly and only in the quantities required to preserve quality and stability. The goal is always to allow the fruit, terroir, and character of each vintage to express themselves as naturally as possible.
Sustainability is not achieved through a single action. It is the result of countless small decisions made throughout the year—decisions that respect the vineyard today while helping to preserve it for future generations.
At Pêgo da Moura, we see ourselves not only as winegrowers, but also as caretakers of the land. Every bottle reflects that responsibility.
